Properly cared for, your framed insect specimens will last a lifetime. They're permanently preserved using the same techniques employed by museums to prepare their displays. Just keep them away from direct sunlight and excess humidity, and they'll remain in pristine condition. We use 70% isopropyl alcohol for any wet specimens.
Yes, all of our butterflies, moths, beetles, and other bugs are genuine, preserved using the same methods as museum collections. Insects have exoskeletons that can be maintained indefinitely, much like our own skeletal structures.
You're welcome to remove the specimen from the frame if desired. Simply take out the nails holding the "lid" in place, lift it off, and handle the insect by the top inner edge of the forewings closest to the body.
